Defending the Cause: The Ripple Effect

“For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them.” ~ 1 Corinthians 9:19 ESV

“As a Pastor it is always a joy to see spiritual growth in my people, especially my men. Fathers in the Field has yielded spiritual growth not just in our Mentor Fathers and their Field Buddy’s, but in our community. People are coming to know Christ and lives are being changed.” ~ Pastor Mel Howton at New Salem Baptist Church

Last year Field Buddy Isaac was baptized and so was his mother. This is a testament to the intentional commitment of Mentor Father Jay and the support of the body of Christ at New Salem Baptist Church.

Pastor Mel remarked at this turning point in the life of FB Isaac.

“Isaac was very withdrawn in the beginning. The trauma of growing up fatherless had built a protective wall around him. His MF Jay honored his commitment through Fathers in the Field (4 intentional contacts per month) and the Holy Spirit brought Isaac to a place he could surrender to Christ. The transformation in Isaac and the reaching out by our church body brought his mother to Christ. The spiritual growth in this single mother family has been amazing to watch. God is actively moving in their lives.”

The transformation hasn’t been isolated just to Isaac and his mom.

“There was a young person who died last year, and Isaac’s mom reached out to the mother. Through this interaction the couple began to attend Church. During our VBS kickoff party this year the mother prayed to receive Christ. Her husband rededicated his life to the Lord, and both will be baptized together soon and become a part of our church family. The ministry of Fathers in the Field has reached not only a fatherless boy and his single mother, but a hurting couple in our community.

“There is a ripple affect happening through the ministry of Fathers in the Field. It is reaching into every aspect of our Church body and our community. I can’t express enough the joy this ministry brings to me as a Pastor and to my congregation.”

Real life change is possible it only requires us to be faithful to Christ and minister to those most in need, fatherless boys and those touched by their lives.

I look forward to hearing from you as we work together to help the fatherless in our wonderful Country.
